Freelon Group Sponsors 2005 Trophy for CIAA Champion Coach

Research Triangle Park, NC - The Freelon Group, an architectural firm with offices in RTP and in Charlotte, sponsored the trophy for the winning coach in this year's CIAA football championship game. The Freelon Group was the first business to sponsor the championship game in 2000 once it was reinstated after a ten-year hiatus.

Following the exciting championship game between NC Central University and Bowie State University won by NCCU with a last minute field goal, Phil Freelon, FAIA presented the trophy to coach Rod Broadway. Phil stated that,"we are thrilled to once again serve as sponsor for the CIAA football championship game."

The game was held Saturday, November 5 at 1 pm in Durham at NCCU's O'Kelly-Riddick Stadium. The CIAA, or Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association, is comprised of twelve schools, all historically African-American. This year will be the sixth year the Eastern Division has faced off with the Western Division to determine the Association's season champion.
