RESEARCH TRIANGLE PARK, NC -- The Freelon Group has been chosen as the Design Architect for the Biomanufacturing Research Institute and Technology Enterprise (BRITE) Project at North Carolina Central University. The Freelon Group is working in partnership with O'Brien Atkins Associates, the Architect of Record for the project.
The 65,000-sq.-ft. facility, funded by the Golden LEAF (Long-term Economic Advancement Foundation), will be a major addition to the 120,000-sq.-ft. BRITE is part of the statewide initiative to make North Carolina a premiere provider of skilled workers for the biotechnology industry.
The BRITE facility will house laboratories for basic/applied research in areas related to biomanufacturing. The building will also include common equipment rooms, core laboratories, and modules for the hands-on training and education of program participants.
The Freelon Group is a 54-person architectural firm founded by Philip G. Freelon, FAIA (Fellow, American Institute of Architects) in 1990. The firm provides services nation wide with offices in the Research Triangle Park and Charlotte, North Carolina.
