THE FREELON GROUP RECEIVES AIA MARYLAND'S TOP HONOR

The Freelon Group Architects has been honored with American Institute of Architects (AIA) Maryland's top prize, Public Building of the Year, for the Reginald F. Lewis Museum of Maryland African American History and Culture designed by Freelon/RTKL, a Joint Venture. The award was presented during the Design Awards Banquet on September 28th.
A total of 26 awards were presented during the banquet. Over 121 projects by 51 firms were submitted for consideration.
The Reginald F. Lewis Museum of Maryland African American History & Culture is dedicated to sharing the courageous journeys toward freedom and self-determination made by African American Marylanders. Museum leaders hope it will be a place to remember struggles, celebrate accomplishments, and serve as a beacon of pride, hope, and inspiration for all people. The museum opened in June.
