THE FREELON GROUP RECEIVES TWO AIA CHARLOTTE AWARDS

The Freelon Group Architects has been honored with two awards from the American Institute of Architects (AIA) Charlotte Section. The firm received a Merit Award for the Reginald F. Lewis Museum of Maryland African American History and Culture designed by Freelon/RTKL, a Joint Venture. The museum, located in Baltimore, opened in June 2005.
The Freelon Group also received an Honor Award in the Un-built Category for
the design of the James C. Renick School of Education at North Carolina A&T State University in Greensboro. This project is scheduled for completion in January 2007.
The awards were presented during the Design Awards Gala on November 18, 2005 at ImaginOn: The Joe and Joan Martin Center in Charlotte. Five projects
were selected for recognition from more than 50 entries submitted by AIA
Charlotte members.
