RESEARCH TRIANGLE PARK, NC -- The Freelon Group Architects has received the 2006 Supplier of the Year Award from the Carolinas Minority Supplier Development Council (CMSDC). The award was presented at the organization's 29th Annual Business Opportunity Conference on August 15th in Greensboro, NC.
The Freelon Group was nominated by Merck & Co., Inc. The firm is designing Merck's operations support facility in Traburn, NC.
CMSDC is a trade group comprised of major corporations and minority business enterprises. It was formed in the late 1970s to facilitate procurement opportunities between major corporations and minority-owned businesses. Member firms include Merck, GlaxoSmithKline, Volvo-White, Wachovia, Bank of America and IBM. The Freelon Group has been a member since 2004.
The Freelon Group is a 50-person, award-winning architectural firm founded by Philip G. Freelon, FAIA (Fellow, American Institute of Architects) in 1990. The firm's design portfolio centers on Higher Education, Science/Technology and Museum and Cultural Center projects.
