Research Triangle Park, NC & Cambridge, MA Feb 6 – The Massachusetts Institute of Technology School of Architecture + Planning will showcase the architecture of The Freelon Group in an art exhibition opening February 15th at the Wolk Gallery at MIT, 77 Massachusetts Avenue in Cambridge.
The exhibit, which runs through April 13th, includes ten projects designed by the Freelon Group, plus a table from the furniture collection designed by founder Philip Freelon. Featured projects include museums, university buildings, libraries and an airport parking structure.
“The title of the exhibit is REACH, an expression that conveys the spirit of our design work,” said Freelon Group founder and CEO Philip Freelon, FAIA, LEED AP. “The REACH exhibit theme also speaks to a broader vision of the architecture profession - one that extends beyond conventional limits, provides design excellence to everyday people and values the contributions of a wide range of stakeholders.”
Freelon is a Professor of Practice at MIT’s School of Architecture + Planning and MIT alum; he received a Master in Architecture in 1977. The Architecture school of is one of five MIT schools - along with Engineering, Management, Science, and Humanities, Arts and Social Sciences.
The Elliot K. Wolk Gallery at MIT is free and open to the public Monday through Friday, 9AM - 5PM. The gallery is located in MIT Building 7, Room 338, at 77 Massachusetts Avenue, Cambridge. The Wolk Gallery was established in 1995 in recognition of Elliot K. Wolk, Class of 1957.
The Freelon Group is a 55-person design firm founded in 1990 by Philip G. Freelon, FAIA.
