Located in the historic Hayti community of Durham, North Carolina, the St. Joseph's Historic Foundation at Hayti Heritage Center is an integral part of the Triangle's cultural landscape, offering innovative programming and exhibitions featuring local, regional and national artists. Registered as a national historic landmark, the original St. Joseph's structure stood vacant and in a state of disrepair for decades.
Breathing new life into the historic church allows the Foundation to take on new challenges with the opening of the new 350-seat performance space in the renovated St. Joseph's Church sanctuary, completing the vision set forth by its founders 25 years ago. The center is now able to host a variety of activities including the Black Diaspora Film Festival, Bull Durham Blues Festival, and annual Kwanzaa celebration.
