The Vaughan Center at Elizabeth City State University includes a renovation and an addition to the existing physical education facility which provides 16,000 square feet for their new fitness program. The program required a large two-level open fitness area for state of the art fitness equipment, a bio-mechanicals lab, two classrooms, and two racquetball courts. The two-tier fitness area was a significant design feature which allowed the upper level area to monitor exercises on the lower level, while resolving ADA accessibility issues inside the facility rather than on the exterior.
