The Freelon Group, along with Ellerbe Becket and Odell formed the architectural team for the new Charlotte Arena that is the home of the city’s new NBA team - the Charlotte Bobcats. The arena serves as a venue for sporting events, concerts, and community festivals. The 18,500-seat arena includes a practice facility, three outdoor terraces, two restaurants, and a sports bar.
Freelon’s scope of work included NBA and WNBA Team Locker Rooms and Practice Courts, Team Store, the Back Court restaurant and lounge, Box Office, the Bobcats administrative offices and the Charlotte Region Visitors Authority. Our contribution to the core and shell included the vertical circulation systems including, stairs, elevators and escalators.
