Yale University Component Programming and Concept Design Study for Sterling Chemistry Lab and Kline Chemistry Lab (SCL/KCL)
Sterling Chemistry Lab, constructed in 1923, and Kline Chemistry Lab, constructed in 1963, have served as the home for the teaching and research activities for the Chemistry Department for almost a century. Upon the completion of a new research building, the majority of all the research activities will be relocated and Sterling Chemistry and Kline Chemistry will be renovated.
The program for the Sterling renovation, consistent with the master plan, will be to create an undergraduate teaching center for the teaching lab activities of Chemistry, MCDB, MB&B, and Physics. In addition, a new upper level will be created providing additional research labs for ever-expanding research activities of the adjacent departments. Kline Chemistry will continue to house the non-organic research labs and the instrumentation center.
The project is phased with a series of enabling projects in order to avoid any down-time for the teaching and research activities.
