The Pharmacy Building at ECSU will be dedicated to the new Doctor of Pharmacy Partnership Program between UNC Chapel Hill and Elizabeth City State University.
The new Pharmacy building (approximately 52,500 GSF) will consist of a new 2 - 3 story building constructed on a site on the western edge of the North Campus at Elizabeth City State University. The new building will house distance learning classrooms, teaching labs and research space required by the Pharmacy program. In addition, the adjacent Jenkins Science Building will benefit from two additional general science teaching lab and additional classroom space within the new building. Site circulation improvements include parking adjacent to the building for faculty and pedestrian walks as well as campus infrastructure improvements per the latest master plan.
Launched in fall 2005, the UNC/ECSU Doctor of Pharmacy Partnership Program’s primary goal is to increase the number of pharmacy graduates. A special emphasis is placed on increasing the number of pharmacists representing minority and underserved populations and increasing pharmacy manpower in northeastern North Carolina. Upon completion of degree requirements, graduates of this program will receive a bachelor of science in pharmaceutical sciences from ECSU with acknowledgment of the partnership with UNC-Chapel Hill, and a doctor of pharmacy degree from UNC-Chapel Hill with acknowledgment of the partnership with ECSU.
