Master Planning

Master Planning has become increasingly important as sustainable practices and the preservation of our environment has moved to the forefront of architectural practice and public consciousness. At Freelon, master planning begins with an examination of the broader context of the problem at hand. We strive to understand the physical, social and economic impact of our work as we analyze existing campuses and/or facilities. While looking at site and infrastructure capacity and the need for new buildings, the reuse or "repurposing" of existing facilities is always the first option considered. Where new construction is recommended, our planning process takes into account the immediate context as well as the impact new facilities will have on the larger environment. We encourage our clients to take the "long view" in helping them to envision future development that is sustainable, cost effective and appropriate to its surroundings.
